Obama's Free 2009 Scholarship Program for Mothers Gives Moms a Second Chance

President Obama’s Scholarship for Mothers program will ensure government support for women who qualify under the program. The grant includes single moms, who work full time just to make ends meet, to be encouraged to continue their college education.

More so, in applying for the said program, moms have the option to stay at home and take care of the kids while finishing a degree online. Moms can even apply for other existing programs that can alleviate the burden of paying taxes for those earning just enough.

It is important that women take a step further in enriching their lives by finishing a college degree and later on be able to seek a decent job. Women, particularly single moms, should never allow themselves to be discriminated just because of their social status. It is even a noble job to solely take care of children while working to make ends meet.

Obama has definitely given hope to moms by granting them scholarships to enhance their status in life. Now it is up to those women to grab this opportunity and make their lives better not just for them but for their children as well.

Help answer the question about free online scholarships

How to report scholarships and grants on taxes.?
I'm a college student, and I'm filing taxes for the first time – and I have a question on how to file scholarships and such. I have a scholarship for full tuition and books, and then I have a Pell Grant and other need/merit-based grants which cover my room and board. So basically – I pay nothing for college, but am I supposed to report my grants as taxable income? I'm confused on how I should deal with this because including my grants as income would mean that I owe $500 in taxes – but I received that money from the government to begin with… so why should I give it back?

I didn't receive a W-2 or any forms for the grants, although I can view my 1098-T online. I know my scholarship for tuition and books is tax-free, but any insight on what I should do regarding the grants for room and board?

I would try going to FastWeb.com. Some scholarships, however, may require you to write an essay or something similar. But, it is worth it!

They will personalize/find the scholarships to fit your situation. For example, they will not show you scholarships for women if you are a man.

I used FastWeb and I got a total of 6 scholarships in the last 2 years. They are awesome!

try http://finaid.org/. also go to your local vfw or similary organization to see if they offer scholarships for needy students. try a web search for specific types of scholarships you may be eligible for (ex: minority student, single mother, etc). good luck!

    Try fastweb.com.

There are scholarships for everyone. You will also get scholarships that are open to any of the characteristics in your profile. Example: If you put down that you are Hispanic in your profile, then Hispanic-only will display in your results in addition to scholarships that are open for everyone.

This site also has job opportunities.

That depends a lot on your current situation in life. There are many grants in place to help people (especially low income mothers) get a college degree. The best way to get information is to talk to someone at the college/university in the Scholarship/Grant office. They have counselors at all institutions to help you find the best way to fund your education
you can also sign up for a free guide on getting the best off grants and scholarships here http://ridequote.com/grantresearchguide.html .
    Good luck
